If you’ve had the rolls at Texas Roadhouse, you know the cinnamon honey butter is why you ask for a second basket. This is our version. Most copycat recipes sweeten it with powdered sugar. We use raw honey.
It takes one bowl and about five minutes. Nothing gets heated, so the honey goes onto your roll the same way it came out of the jar.
YIELD: About ⅔ cup
INGREDIENTS
1 stick (½ cup) butter, softened
2–3 tablespoons Crystal’s Raw Wildflower Honey
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon coconut sugar (optional)
Pinch of smoked sea salt (or regular sea salt)
DIRECTIONS
Whip the softened butter with a hand mixer or stand mixer until it’s pale and fluffy. Add the honey, cinnamon, coconut sugar if you’re using it, and salt. Whip again until smooth and creamy.
Taste it. Add more honey if you want it sweeter, then serve with warm rolls, biscuits, or toast.

Why we use wildflower honey
Our raw wildflower comes from our hives in Massachusetts and New York. We also have a Louisiana wildflower, a New York wildflower, and a Vermont wildflower honey if you're looking for honey from those states alone. Wildflower honey is light and mild, so the cinnamon still comes through. Any of our raw honeys will work. A darker honey like knotweed makes a stronger-tasting butter, which is good on cornbread.
The coconut sugar is optional
It adds a little texture and a caramel note. Leave it out and the butter is sweetened with honey alone.
Tips
Start with soft butter. Cold butter won’t whip, and the honey won’t blend in.
If your honey has crystallized, the butter will come out grainy. Soften the honey first (How to Soften Honey Without Ruining It).
Use the smoked salt if you have it. A small pinch keeps the butter from tasting like frosting.
Other ways to use it
Spread it on pancakes or waffles, melt it over roasted sweet potatoes, or put it out with cornbread at Thanksgiving.
Storage
Keep cinnamon honey butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Let it sit out until it’s soft enough to spread before serving.
Questions
Can I make it ahead for Thanksgiving?
Yes. It keeps in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, so you can make it the weekend before.
Salted or unsalted butter?
Either one works. If you use salted butter, cut back on the sea salt or skip it.
Can kids eat it?
Yes, once they’re over a year old. Don’t give honey to babies under 12 months because of the risk of infant botulism.
